ライトがデスノートを拾うシーン
shall / （ ...することになる。...する運命である）

（このノートに名前を書かれた人間は死ぬ。）

あえてshallを使っている意図は「神の意思としてそうなる」といったニュアンスが含まれる。
＜例文＞
- A man’s pride shall bring him low.
（驕る者は卑しまれる ※聖書より）
as in ... / （つまり...、言い換えると...）
あとには名詞や文章が続く
「in other words」と言い換え可
lame / （くだらない、ダサい、イタい、つまらない）
not that ... / （大した...はない。）

[Light] If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the person's name, it will happen.

[Light] This is pretty detailed for a prank, I'll give them that.
（いたずらにしては手が込んでるな。まあそれは認めるよ。）

相手の能力などに対して、部分的に褒めた上で、そのあとはネガティブな発言が続けたい場面で使う。

on the off chance (that) ... / （万が一 ... なら）

かなり可能性が低いことに対して使う。
＜例文＞
- On the off chance that I win the lottery, I want to quit my job.
（万が一宝くじにあたったら、仕事辞めたい。） - I applied for the job on the off chance that I might pass the interview.
（万が一面接通るかもしれないないので、その仕事に応募した。）
